I take an anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approach to therapy. My intention is to create a space where you feel safe, seen, and respected; where you can share openly without fear of judgement.
I bring a warm, attentive, and compassionate presence to our work together. Building a trusting, collaborative relationship is central to my approach, as meaningful change often begins with feeling understood. Together, we move at a pace that feels comfortable for you, working toward deeper self-understanding, personal growth, and improved well-being.
Therapeutic Modalities
I work from an integrative framework that is tailored to your unique needs. This means I draw from a range of evidence-based approaches and adapt them in a way that best supports you. Modalities I commonly incorporate include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Schema Therapy, and mindfulness-based interventions. Other approaches may also be integrated depending on your goals and what feels most helpful for you.
What does the intake session look like?
The intake session is a gentle starting point for our work together. It is an opportunity for us to connect, put a face to a name, and begin building a sense of comfort and trust. We will talk about what is bringing you to therapy, your current concerns, and any relevant background, at a pace that feels manageable for you. I will also walk you through how therapy works and answer any questions you may have. From there, we will begin identifying your goals and shaping a plan that feels supportive and aligned with your needs.
What do ongoing therapy sessions look like?
In our ongoing sessions, we focus on the experiences, challenges, and patterns you bring into the space. Together, we explore how past experiences may be shaping your present, while gently building insight, self-awareness, and new ways of responding. This work is collaborative and paced with care. My role is to support you in making sense of your experiences, especially in moments where you may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain. The goal that we are striving for is helping you move toward meaningful and sustainable change.
Some clients also wonder whether there will be “homework” in-between sessions. Depending on your goals and the approaches that we are using, we may identify small, practical ways to carry insights from our sessions into your daily life. This might include journalling, mindfulness practices, or trying out new ways of responding in certain situations. These are always collaborative and flexible, and your ideas and preferences are an important part of shaping what feels helpful and realistic for you.
The Process of Unlearning
Unlearning can feel unfamiliar and, at times, uncomfortable. It often involves gently questioning long-held beliefs about yourself and the world around you. We approach this process with care and curiosity, not pressure. As we move through this work, there is space to explore your inner world more deeply by holding onto what feels true for you, and gradually letting go of what no longer serves you. You don’t have to navigate this process alone; I will be there every step of the way to support you.
